Most disorders associated with metabolic syndrome have no obvious signs and symptoms. One visible sign is a large waist circumference. But if you have high blood sugar, you may notice signs and symptoms of diabetes, such as increased thirst and urination, fatigue, and blurred vision.

People suffering from metabolic syndrome usually have an apple-shaped body, meaning they have a larger waist and are overweight in the abdomen. It is believed that a pear-shaped body, i.e., the transfer of most of the weight to the hips, and a narrower waist, does not increase the risk of developing diabetes, cardiovascular disease, or other complications of metabolic syndrome.
